Audiophile sound by R-2R multibit DAC technology .... |
The table top DAC, preamplifier & headphone amplifier builded on R-2R resistor ladder multibit, multiplying current-output DAC chip LTC2752 from Linear Technology
Corporation and chip LTC2758 for 18 bits version. Operational of DAC........ At Power On the DAC is load a previous settings from EEPROM and start with Normal Display Mode. At Normal Display Mode the screen show next: Upper row: ERROR COUNTER. The DAC is count an errors at each 1 second period and update it on display. The errors can be DATA STREAM ERROR, PARITY ERROR and BIPHASE ERROR of SPDIF/TOSLINK connection. At right side of upper row show a source of DAC choosed USB, OPT (TOSLINK), RCA (SPDIF). Bottom row: SAMPLE RATE INDICATOR. During playback, the sample rate will be count for each 1 second period and update it on display. The precition of Sample Rate Indicator less of 0.00002%. At right side of upper row show a current Volume of DAC. At Normal Display Mode, doing CW and CCW of knob button to change a Volume of DAC. A press of knob button (PB) is set a Menu Display Mode. Menu Display Mode: 1--> "Set Input USB " --- CW set next menu item. --- CCW set previous menu item. --- PB choose USB as current input. 2--> "SetInput TOSLINK" --- CW set next menu item. --- CCW set previous menu item. --- PB choose TOSLINK as current input. 3--> "Set Input SPDIF " --- CW set next menu item. --- CCW set previous menu item. --- PB choose SPDIF as current input. 4--> "LSB cut On/Off" --- CW set next menu item. --- CCW set previous menu item. --- PB turn ON/OFF of Less Significant Bits cut function. This feature allow to suppress LSB bits in incoming signal and pass from 8 bits to 24 bits to performance. 5--> " LSB cut set " --- CW increase pass bits. --- CCW decrease pass bits. --- PB enter to sub menu and out to main menu. 6--> " Save Setting " --- CW set next menu item. --- CCW set previous menu item. --- PB load current setting to EEPROM and out to Normal Display Mode. The save are volume, source input, LSB On/Off, amount off MSB pass of "LSB cut", Invert signal, Signal meter On/Off, 135% gain signal On/Off. 7--> " Out from menu " --- CW set next menu item. --- CCW set previous menu item . --- PB Out from menu to Normal Display Mode without store to EEPROM. 8--> " Test sine wave " --- CW set next menu item. --- CCW set previous menu item. --- PB an enter to sine wave generation sub menu. In sub menu CW and CCW allow to change sine frequency, the PB is out from sub menu. Set the Volume as soon as possible less, before to use it feature. 9--> " Invert On/Off" --- CW set next menu item. --- CCW set previous menu item. --- PB set invert phase of input signal. 10--> " Signal meter" --- CW set next menu item. --- CCW set previous menu item. --- PB set Normal Display Mode to special feature. The SAMPLE RATE INDICATOR is change to Volume signal meter of incoming signal. The ERROR COUNTER is change to Volume signal meter of signal send to DAC chip. The format of numeral is one's compliment hex. The DAC continuously to check of incoming data and choose maximum. The update each 1 second . The maximum is 7FFF00h for 16 bits and 7FFFFFh for 24 bits. 11--> "135% gain signal" --- CW set next menu item. --- CCW set previous menu item. --- PB is set special additional amplification of incoming signal for 35%. If according Signal meter an incoming signal has most significant nibble is 4 (0100) and less, then incoming signal data will not distortion. When connecting the DAC to any equipment, make sure that all devices are off, including the DAC |
